August 29 2011 is a School Holiday

According to MediaCorp channel 8 and MOE website, 29 August 2011 is a Singapore school holiday.

The Presidential Election falls on Saturday, 27 August 2011, which makes it a public holiday. Since Saturdays (similar to Sundays) in Singapore are non-working days, the following Monday, 29 August 2011, will be a school holiday for teaching staff and pupils.

Please also note that the school operating hours for schools serving as polling or counting centres will be affected on the eve (Friday 26 August 2011) of polling day. Schools will advise parents accordingly.

Though we understand clearly from this announcement that all government primary and secondary schools, and junior colleges are given the holiday on 29 August, the announcement is not very clear for polytechnic students. Do check with your respective polytechnic for more instructions.

Our tuition agency would like to wish all the wondering teachers and students a happy holiday!
